Cumbria Dog Training

As we were having dinner recently, Paul glanced over to the Scar and we knew immediately that the two silhouettes could only be those of our daughter Rachel and her boyfriend Ross. With Rachel being away for a few days, it's fallen to me to look after her lovely lad Charlie, to keep him happy and make him forget the temporary separation he's having to endure. Our daughter Fran is in Montana USA and I've been left in charge of her Pack - quite an honour. She's due back in a few weeks time and I know she's already looking forward to seeing her beloved dogs again - and with good reason ! Back in for a few days boarding are Bailey and Fudge, who stayed with us earlier this year for residential training. They were a pair of loveable monsters when they arrived then, but when they were dropped off this time they were excellent and it's so good to see that their owners have maintained the training ! Tilly and Annie both have lovely markings and Paul enjoys photographing them - if they sit still long enough! Walking them with our son recently, he decided they'd arrived at a suitable spot for a photograph, but they weren't so sure .... until our son got some sweets out of his pocket and began to rustle the wrappers ! Only a few days ago a really biddable young lad named Freddie came to stay. It quickly became apparent that Freddie liked to play with a tennis ball, so we forged an immediate bond using one. My daughter Rachel has been working with me for some months now, both walking and and very occasionally, helping to train dogs (with the owners knowledge). Two weeks ago, she was given the responsibility of turning around the behaviour of young tearaway Bailey, a Cocker Spaniel. He arrived pulling, no recall and having absolutely no eye contact. But with persistence and a little hard work, things are really starting to change !

Hugo and Max, my Black Lab guests have completed their training and returned home to Bedfordshire. Replacing them are Fudge and Bailey, two Yellow Labradors. Both are now off the long line in my field although there's still plenty of training to go before they're good enough to go home. But in the meantime, Bailey is enjoying her freedom ! Bailey enjoys being off the longline Fudge  My other residential training guest who currently staying with me is Phoebe. Like the Labs, she's also a young dog. At the moment Phoebe is always on the lead or long line as her desire to chase after something moving far away in the distance is too great. But given time I'll sort that problem out. Yet again I'm fortunate to have dogs staying with me who are really enjoyable to train, who want to please and in truth are full of love and affection. Meet Hugo and Max, two boisterous 13 month old Black Labradors who arrived a few weeks ago for residential training. For the first 2 / 3 weeks (!) these two believed that the world belonged to them, but now they realise life's not as simple as that and that the key to everything is respect ! Individually they're great, but I'm now working on the goal of having them off lead together, without causing any mayhem. It's not simple but everyday a little more progress  is being made and we will get there ! A very pensive Hugo Predator and prey or simply just good friends ?
