Max, Hugo and Tazzy too !

Meet Hugo and Max, two boisterous 13 month old Black Labradors who arrived a few weeks ago for residential training.
For the first 2 / 3 weeks (!) these two believed that the world belonged to them, but now they realise life's not as simple as that and that the key to everything is respect !
Individually they're great, but I'm now working on the goal of having them off lead together, without causing any mayhem. It's not simple but everyday a little more progress  is being made and we will get there !

Predator and prey or simply just good friends ? (Charlie is carrying a tennis ball)
If you've not come across an Australian Labradoodle before, meet Tazzy, a young girl who's stayed with me for the weekend. She's had freedom albeit by the use of a long line, but as you can see, wasn't hampered in her movements while playing with little Molly.
Meanwhile Tilly lays in the background, oblivious to everything as she chews her favourite toy !

"Steady Molly, that was close !"
"Ouch ! I said steady !!"

  1. This is a precious information and really a helpful post too. Thanks to share a useful information. There are some interesting aspects in your article and I learned lot of things, thank you.

Meet a Serra da Estrela Mountain dog

This morning I met Bluto, a 7mth old Serra da Estrela mountain dog. Seven months and still growing ! He came for my sheep chasing course, but ended up leaving without every seeing a fluffy white creature. Instead, he left with more respect for his owner than when he first arrived. Seeing this young but powerful dog climb out of the car, oblivious to his owner, showed me he had no regard for him whatsoever. On the basis that no successful training will happen unless there is respect, I went about showing the owner how to achieve this. Once he'd mastered it, he left to practice the lesson in his home environment. But this won't be the last I see of Bluto - don't forget, I still have to make him know what he can and can't do when confronted by sheep. Janet

The Italian Connection - Harry the Spinone

Let me introduce you to Harry, an Italian Spinone. Harry arrived yesterday for a day's "try out", prior to any long term boarding. He's as gentle as he looks and those eyes .... ! Janet

Fran Ardley the Gun Dog Trainer

While Rachel is a trainer and partner in Cumbria Dog Training, my other daughter is a professional in gun dog trainer. Fran has been training dogs for owners from all over  the UK, as well as being asked to judge dogs in in the very male world of trialling. Not bad for a young lady still in her 20's ! Paul's six month old Working Cocker Spaniel Ella loves riding in the cars. She has tremendous spring in her skinny legs and gets into the back of the Hilux with little effort. It's a different story when it's time to leave. She's been trained never to jump out but to be patient and wait for her owner to pick her up, thereby preventing injuries ..... and vets bills !! When are we going to be there Dad ? Boarding dogs Charlie and his brother Alfie are staying with me for a few days, and as can be seen, a ball is something that creates a real bond. These two young dogs are lovely characters. Is this the cool way to carry a ball ? Scarlett, a yo
