Still here !

I've not posted anything for a surprisingly long time so thought I better sort myself out !
Needless to say I've been very busy with training and home visits.
A recent guest has been Isla, a 4mth old Lab. The photo is of her and Basil, who came for just an afternoon to socialise with other dogs. Looking at this, it was rather successful.
Young Isla was a real little charmer and the photo below sums her up very well !

"Are you sticking your tongue out at me ?"
At the moment I have a lovely Labradoodle staying with me called Roxy. She's having a great time socialising with the other dogs and it's a real pleasure to see that happening. At the moment she is still on the lead until I'm confident that we have really bonded. This Sunday I am going to introduce her to my flock of sheep, with the intention that any temptation to chase will be stopped. This will then allow her owners much greater freedom with her.
Having given Roxy a good walk earlier on, I chose to drive to the Eastern Fells with returning guests Stella and Molly. These two are real characters. Stella has developed so much since she first came here earlier in the year. Then, she was scared of all the dogs and tried to hide away in the corner ........ but with Honey about, do you really think she would be allowed to !
My walk was rather wet !! However, I thoroughly enjoyed it and judging by the pics below, I wasn't the only one !!

Bailey goes back to school

My daughter Rachel has been working with me for some months now, both walking and and very occasionally, helping to train dogs (with the owners knowledge). Two weeks ago, she was given the responsibility of turning around the behaviour of young tearaway Bailey, a Cocker Spaniel. He arrived pulling, no recall and having absolutely no eye contact. But with persistence and a little hard work, things are really starting to change !

The Italian Connection - Harry the Spinone

Let me introduce you to Harry, an Italian Spinone. Harry arrived yesterday for a day's "try out", prior to any long term boarding. He's as gentle as he looks and those eyes .... ! Janet

Fran Ardley the Gun Dog Trainer

While Rachel is a trainer and partner in Cumbria Dog Training, my other daughter is a professional in gun dog trainer. Fran has been training dogs for owners from all over  the UK, as well as being asked to judge dogs in in the very male world of trialling. Not bad for a young lady still in her 20's ! Paul's six month old Working Cocker Spaniel Ella loves riding in the cars. She has tremendous spring in her skinny legs and gets into the back of the Hilux with little effort. It's a different story when it's time to leave. She's been trained never to jump out but to be patient and wait for her owner to pick her up, thereby preventing injuries ..... and vets bills !! When are we going to be there Dad ? Boarding dogs Charlie and his brother Alfie are staying with me for a few days, and as can be seen, a ball is something that creates a real bond. These two young dogs are lovely characters. Is this the cool way to carry a ball ? Scarlett, a yo
