Meet Mick

Mick, a cheerful 15 week old Working Cocker Spaniel, was born at Toddle Cottage and is destined to remain here, due to Paul becoming his owner.
The two have already formed a great bond and Sumo, Paul's lovely black Working Cocker, has adopted his new mate really well with the two often seen playing together.

And now fourteen weeks

Dogs make me happy, especially when they are as responsive as Maddie, a 6 year old Working Cocker Spaniel. Owned by my daughter Fran and mother to two litters, including Sumo and Mick, this little dog has won cups at trialling.

Happiness is .....

Paul insists that this is part of Sumo's training, in readiness for when his 3yr old Working Cocker has to pick up pheasants that have been shot and fallen on the far side of some mysterious wall !! Personally I think it's just an excuse for the two of them to have fun together !
Sumo showing great eye contact wherever he is.

Few dogs can resist the challenge of running after Honey, who takes great delight in encouraging them to play. We keep one eye open that she's choosing the "right company" but I think that her speed plus her knowledge that I'm on hand makes her a little trouble maker ! Here, Plum does her best but in the end resigns herself to having fun in the buttercups !

I'm finally able to let Jess off of a long line for the first time since she arrived for residential training some weeks ago - and what a wonderful sight it is. Here she's seen standing near her friend and running mate Sam, a very gentle Staffie Cross.

The Italian Connection - Harry the Spinone

Let me introduce you to Harry, an Italian Spinone. Harry arrived yesterday for a day's "try out", prior to any long term boarding. He's as gentle as he looks and those eyes .... ! Janet

"Come on Chief, smile !!"

"Come on Chief, smile !!" That look from 9 mth old Chief tells me I'm lucky to take even one photograph of him ! Chief is just one dog who has stayed with me since the New Year, either for boarding or residential training. Nearly all can be seen on my Cumbria Dog Training Facebook page, and with a husband who is more than cabaple Peanut enjoys the fells. Meet Nala, a beautiful Portuguese Water Dog, who, at 7 mths old is still displaying alot of puppy traits. She's staying for a 24 hr try out and has fitted in really well. I'm pleased to be able to say that Peanut is staying with me again. This young Cocker is such a lovely girl who makes herself right at home and gets on so well with everyone, both people and dogs. And finally, time for my own girls !

The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog

Over the years I've worked with most breeds, from Akitas and Rottweilers through to Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers. Now I can mention another breed - a Czechslovakian Wolfdog. Meet Kyra, who I'm just beginning to train. As these are early days, the long line is still required to prevent her running off but this is only for short term use until I know with complete confidence that she will respond to the recall. Talking with Kyra's owner Not a common sight in the English Countryside On a different note, Paul was contacted at the start of the week by the Farmers Guardian, asking to use his very powerful photograph from one of my sheep chasing lessons. It features on the "Sheep" page on my website and previously featured in an article on me last year. The dog featured is a Presa Canario x Rottweiler. And I can honestly say that no sheep was bitten or harmed. An all too common sight caused by thoughtless owners But to finish off, let me introduce y...
