It just keeps raining cats and dogs (but mainly dogs)

Flaming June has given way to an even hotter July ............ in Spain, Italy and Greece.
But for the UK, April showers have continued and just got heavier.

The top photograph was taken pre walk and is of a few raindrops hanging from my garage door !
But I can't get miserable having such a lovely group of dogs staying.

Tilly, the black Cocker Spaniel has returned home now, but not before enjoying a complete variety of walks and smells ! Only she knows what the wonders of this hole were, but looking at her face - and body - it was worth it.

Meanwhile Chester appears to have some H20 in his eyes - not surprising as he never seems to be out of the stuff.
This big friendly dog is like an elephant in a couple of ways - able to find water anywhere and once found, loves nothing more than rolling about in the stuff. This morning he found a muddy puddle, sat in it before deciding it was large enough to lay down in ......... then, once supine, chose to have a complete roll in the stuff, face and all ! I just stood and laughed but stopped short of giving him a hug !!

My next post will include Scott the Dalmation, who so far has eluded my camera - lucky dog!

Summertime .............. English style
Chester appears to have splashed himself
One happy dog
I even walk half a dog
And Tilly as she really is, looking a little tired and dirty

The Italian Connection - Harry the Spinone

Let me introduce you to Harry, an Italian Spinone. Harry arrived yesterday for a day's "try out", prior to any long term boarding. He's as gentle as he looks and those eyes .... ! Janet

"Come on Chief, smile !!"

"Come on Chief, smile !!" That look from 9 mth old Chief tells me I'm lucky to take even one photograph of him ! Chief is just one dog who has stayed with me since the New Year, either for boarding or residential training. Nearly all can be seen on my Cumbria Dog Training Facebook page, and with a husband who is more than cabaple Peanut enjoys the fells. Meet Nala, a beautiful Portuguese Water Dog, who, at 7 mths old is still displaying alot of puppy traits. She's staying for a 24 hr try out and has fitted in really well. I'm pleased to be able to say that Peanut is staying with me again. This young Cocker is such a lovely girl who makes herself right at home and gets on so well with everyone, both people and dogs. And finally, time for my own girls !

The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog

Over the years I've worked with most breeds, from Akitas and Rottweilers through to Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers. Now I can mention another breed - a Czechslovakian Wolfdog. Meet Kyra, who I'm just beginning to train. As these are early days, the long line is still required to prevent her running off but this is only for short term use until I know with complete confidence that she will respond to the recall. Talking with Kyra's owner Not a common sight in the English Countryside On a different note, Paul was contacted at the start of the week by the Farmers Guardian, asking to use his very powerful photograph from one of my sheep chasing lessons. It features on the "Sheep" page on my website and previously featured in an article on me last year. The dog featured is a Presa Canario x Rottweiler. And I can honestly say that no sheep was bitten or harmed. An all too common sight caused by thoughtless owners But to finish off, let me introduce y...
