Sunday morning

Another busy week has seen me working at home, Hawkshead, Keswick and beautiful Pooley Bridge - my old home.
Jake was collected on Wednesday by his owners who'd driven over from Harrogate. Before they left, I demonstrated what I'd taught Jake before they took over. They were delighted when they realised that their dog was taking notice of them - "finally", as Jeff said.

Meanwhile I'm very pleased with Snap's progress. He had no real boundaries when he first arrived, even to the point where he thought he could just jump up on a chair! But those actions are long gone and he's developing into a really lovely dog, easy to teach and very responsive.

Behaviour cases for Border Collies and Patterdale Terriers have taken me all over Cumbria, as I said to begin with. All problems solved - even the Collie who decided she would try to bite me. Thankfully my reactions were even quicker!!

At the moment Spike is staying again. She's a lovely little dog - really great fun. Her and Snap get on very well.

The Italian Connection - Harry the Spinone

Let me introduce you to Harry, an Italian Spinone. Harry arrived yesterday for a day's "try out", prior to any long term boarding. He's as gentle as he looks and those eyes .... ! Janet

"Come on Chief, smile !!"

"Come on Chief, smile !!" That look from 9 mth old Chief tells me I'm lucky to take even one photograph of him ! Chief is just one dog who has stayed with me since the New Year, either for boarding or residential training. Nearly all can be seen on my Cumbria Dog Training Facebook page, and with a husband who is more than cabaple Peanut enjoys the fells. Meet Nala, a beautiful Portuguese Water Dog, who, at 7 mths old is still displaying alot of puppy traits. She's staying for a 24 hr try out and has fitted in really well. I'm pleased to be able to say that Peanut is staying with me again. This young Cocker is such a lovely girl who makes herself right at home and gets on so well with everyone, both people and dogs. And finally, time for my own girls !

The Czechoslovakian Wolfdog

Over the years I've worked with most breeds, from Akitas and Rottweilers through to Chihuahuas and Yorkshire Terriers. Now I can mention another breed - a Czechslovakian Wolfdog. Meet Kyra, who I'm just beginning to train. As these are early days, the long line is still required to prevent her running off but this is only for short term use until I know with complete confidence that she will respond to the recall. Talking with Kyra's owner Not a common sight in the English Countryside On a different note, Paul was contacted at the start of the week by the Farmers Guardian, asking to use his very powerful photograph from one of my sheep chasing lessons. It features on the "Sheep" page on my website and previously featured in an article on me last year. The dog featured is a Presa Canario x Rottweiler. And I can honestly say that no sheep was bitten or harmed. An all too common sight caused by thoughtless owners But to finish off, let me introduce y...
